Your affiliate earnings: commission, balances and refunds

How your commission is worked out, what Clearing, Available, Pending and Paid out mean, and what a refund does.

Here's how each commission is calculated, how it moves through your balance, and what happens if a sale is refunded or disputed.

✨ Quick answer: your rate is a percentage of what the creator earns on the sale, after AloPortal's fee and payment processing. Each commission clears first, then becomes available to cash out. Refunds and chargebacks take the matching commission back.

πŸ’³ How your commission is worked out

Your rate applies to the creator's share of the sale, not the full price the fan paid. AloPortal's platform fee and the payment processing cost come off first, and your percentage is taken from what's left. Any sales tax on the sale is left out too.

Example

Amount

A fan pays for a membership

$10.00

The creator's share after AloPortal's fee and processing

About $9.00

Your commission at a 20% rate

About $1.80

The exact amount depends on the creator's plan and where the fan's card is from, so every commission shows its real amount on your Affiliate page. To get there, switch to the Member side with the Creator / Member toggle at the bottom of the left sidebar (if you don't have a portal, you're already there), then click Affiliate. On a phone, tap the menu at the top-left first.

Status

What it means

Clearing

Just earned. It waits so refunds and chargebacks can settle: 30 days on a new account, 14 once you're established, 7 for trusted accounts. Your Payouts page shows your own number.

Available

Ready to cash out once you reach the minimum.

Pending

You've asked to cash it out and it's on its way.

Paid out

Sent to your payout account.

Each creator you promote has its own balance. Your Payouts page on the Member side adds them all up, grouped by currency.

↩️ Refunds and chargebacks

  • If a sale you referred is refunded, the same share of your commission is reversed. A half refund reverses half.

  • If a fan disputes a payment with their bank, the commission is reversed while the dispute is open, and given back if the creator wins.

  • A reversal shows as its own line, marked Reversed, and comes off your available balance.

⚠️ Heads up: if a reversal arrives after you've already been paid for that sale, it comes off your next earnings instead. Your balance can dip below zero until you earn again.

❓ Questions

Because your rate applies to the creator's share after AloPortal's fee and payment processing, not to the full price.

Each commission is recorded in the currency the fan paid in. Stripe deposits your cash out to your bank in your own currency.

Yes. Every renewal of a subscription you referred earns you a new commission.
