Portal settings: your link, SEO, tips and more

Change your portal link, search preview, contact email, tips, language and more in Portal settings.

Portal settings is where you fine-tune how your portal behaves: its link, how it shows up in search, whether fans can tip you, and more.

💡 Quick answer: click Portal designer in the left sidebar, then the gear button (Portal settings) next to Promote at the top. On a phone, tap the menu at the top-left, then Portal designer, then Settings in the bottom bar. Change what you need, then press Save all.

⚙️ The Portal tab

Setting	What it does
Portal link	Your address, aloportal.com/your-link. See the rules below.
Language	The language of buttons, labels and checkout on your portal. Your own content isn't translated.
Email sign-up	Adds an email sign-up box so visitors can join your mailing list.
Sensitive material	Shows an 18+ warning before visitors see your portal. You can write your own message.
Contact email	Adds a small Contact link near the bottom of your portal.
Tags	Up to 10 keywords that describe your portal.
SEO title and SEO description (Pro)	How your portal appears in search results and link previews.
Accept tips	Shows a tip box so fans can send one-time support. Add a Tip thank-you message in your own words.
Your voice	Describe how you write, and Alo AI writes every draft in that voice.
Draft promos when I publish	When a post or course goes live, Alo AI drafts the email and captions for you. Nothing is sent on its own.
Affiliate program	Lets visitors join and earn a commission on new subscribers they refer. You set the rate.

🛠️ Change your portal link

Edit Portal link

Open Portal settings (see above), stay on the Portal tab and edit Portal link. We check it's free as you type.

Follow the link rules

Use 3 to 30 lowercase letters, numbers and single hyphens.

Confirm the change

Press Save all, read the summary, then click Change link.

⚠️ Heads up: you can change your link once every 30 days. Your old link sends visitors to the new one for up to 1 year, and nobody else can claim it for 90 days. Update your bios and QR codes soon after.

⚙️ The other tabs

Sharing card: the preview card people see when your link is shared.
Recommendations: recommend up to 8 other portals on your page. They get a heads-up and can recommend you back.
Concierge: an Alo AI on your page that answers visitors' questions about your plans, courses and posts. It's off by default and uses 1 Alo AI credit per answered question.
Mailing (Pro): brand the emails your fans get, with your sender name, reply-to address, logo and colour.
Integrations: connect your social accounts, turn email sign-up on or off, and export your subscribers as a CSV.
Terms: write membership terms your fans see before they subscribe.

🔒 Close your portal

At the bottom of the Portal tab, Close this portal takes your page offline. Type your portal link to confirm, then click Close portal. You'll see a summary before anything happens.

🚫 Careful: new purchases stop right away and subscriptions cancel at the end of their billing period. Members keep access until then (at least 30 days). You can reopen before that, but cancelled subscriptions can't be restored.

Changed your mind? Click Reopen portal in the same place, whether your portal is still closing or already closed. Your page goes back online straight away, with all your content and your current plans. Former subscribers need to subscribe again.

❓ Questions

Do affiliates earn on tips?

No. Tips go straight to you. Affiliates and ambassadors don't earn on them.

I'm not on Pro. Do my saved SEO settings still work?

Yes. Values you saved before still appear publicly. Editing them needs Pro.

Can I change my contact email later?

Any time. Leave it empty to hide the Contact link.
