Add quizzes and certificates to a course

Check what students learned with quizzes and reward them with a certificate when they finish your course.

Quizzes help students lock in what they learned, and a certificate gives them something to celebrate and share when they finish.

💡 Quick answer: in a lesson, type / and choose Quiz. For certificates, open Settings in the course builder and turn on Award completion certificates.

Choose Quiz in a lesson

Click Courses in the left sidebar, open your course and click the lesson in the outline. Type / at the start of a line and choose Quiz. Each lesson can have one quiz.

Add your questions

Add your questions. Each one can be Single choice, Multiple choice or True / False. Tick the correct answer, or every correct answer for multiple choice.

Set the pass threshold

Set the Pass threshold: the % of correct answers needed to pass, from 1 to 100.

Press Save quiz

Press Save quiz. Students take it at the end of the lesson.

✅ Good to know: correct answers stay private. Students see their score and which questions they got right, and they can retake the quiz as often as they like.

⚙️ Turn on certificates

Open course Settings

Click Courses in the left sidebar and open your course. In the course builder, click Settings at the top (on a phone, it's in the ⋯ menu).

Under Learning, turn on Award completion certificates.

Brand your certificate

Make it yours under Certificate branding: add Your logo, a Signature name, a Role and a Signature image (a PNG with a transparent background looks best).

Students earn the certificate once they complete every lesson and pass every quiz. They see Certificate earned on the course page, with View certificate to open, print or share it. Each certificate has its own ID and a code anyone can scan to check it's real.

⚠️ Heads up: marking a student complete yourself from the student list never issues a certificate. Students earn it by finishing the course.

💡 More ways to keep students going

  • Students earn badges along the way, like First lesson, Quiz ace, 7-day streak and Course complete.

  • Turn on Lessons unlock in order in Settings so each lesson, and its quiz, builds on the last.

  • See quiz pass rates in the Analytics tab of Courses in the sidebar.
