Offer a free trial on a plan

Let new members try a membership plan free for a set number of days before billing starts.

A free trial is a friendly way to turn a curious fan into a member. They get full access for a few days, and billing starts only when the trial ends.

✨ Quick answer: on the Creator side, open Portal designer, click the Plans tab, click οΌ‹ Free trial on the plan card, set the number of days and press Save all.

Open Portal designer

On the Creator side, click Portal designer in the left sidebar. On a phone, tap the menu at the top-left first.

Click the Plans tab

Click the Plans tab above the canvas.

Add a free trial

On a computer, click οΌ‹ Free trial on the plan's card. It starts at 7 days; change it to anything from 1 to 365.

Or set it on a phone

On a phone, tap the pencil on the plan card to open Edit plans, turn on Offer a free trial and set Trial length (days).

Press Save all

Press Save all in the save bar.

⚠️ Heads up: trials are for recurring plans only. If a plan has a one-time (lifetime) price, the trial option is hidden.

βš™οΈ What fans see

  • At checkout, the summary reads something like Free for 7 days, then $10, with Cancel anytime.

  • They get full member access straight away.

  • We email them when the trial starts, a reminder before it ends, and a note when it turns into a paid membership.

  • If they cancel during the trial, they're never charged.

πŸ’³ Trials and fees

  • A trial costs you nothing. No fees are taken on the free days.

  • If the plan has a one-time setup fee, that's charged at the start, even during a trial.

  • Once billing starts, the usual fees apply. See Payouts and fees explained.

βœ… Good to know: changing the trial length only affects people who join afterwards. Anyone already on a trial keeps theirs.

Not yet. For now, a free trial, a lower-priced plan or a longer billing cycle (like yearly) are the ways to give fans a better deal.

On the Creator side, click Dashboard in the left sidebar and open the Subscribers tab. Trial members appear there with your other active members.
